Job Description
overview
This position will work in tandem with the Recreation Director and Office Manager and will primarily serve as the onsite coordinator for youth athletic leagues. Duties include but are not limited to assisting in overseeing of youth programs and sports; serving as a liaison to all other Park District program affiliates (i.e. parents, coaches, umpires, etc.); and assisting Maintenance department with field prep when needed.

TASKS :
1. Youth Spring Soccer (Late March – Early May)
a. Field preparation
b. Onsite overseeing of games (6 weeks, Saturday afternoons)
2. Youth Baseball/Softball (May – July)
a. Recruit/organize coaches
i. Conduct coaches’ meetings and drafts
ii. Serve as main point of contact for coaching inquiries throughout the season
iii. Observe each coach periodically throughout the season to ensure compliance of league rules and fair treatment of youth athletes
b. Hire/organize umpires
i. Schedule umpires for each league and maintain schedule changes
ii. Responsible for umpire payroll (time tracking and delivering of paychecks)
iii. Observe each umpire periodically throughout the season to ensure compliance of league rules and performance
iv. Serve as main point of contact for umpires throughout the season
c. Onsite overseeing of games (Monday – Thursday evenings)
i. Ensure fields are properly prepared
ii. Ensure equipment is onsite
iii. Supervise facilities throughout games and act as point of contact for coaches, umpires, and parents.
3. Youth Fall Soccer (August – September)
a. Field preparation
b. Onsite overseeing of games (6 weeks, Saturday mornings)
4. Flag Football (August – September)
a. Recruit/organize coaches
i. Conduct coach’s meetings and drafts
ii. Serve as main point of contact for coaching inquiries throughout the season
iii. Observe each coach periodically throughout the season to ensure compliance of league rules and fair treatment of youth athletes
b. Hire/organize referees
i. Schedule referees for each league and maintain schedule changes
ii. Responsible for referees’ payroll (time tracking and delivering of paychecks)
iii. Observe each referee periodically throughout the season to ensure compliance of league rules and performance
iv. Serve as main point of contact for referees throughout the season
c. Onsite overseeing of games (Monday – Thursday evenings)
i. Ensure fields are properly prepared
ii. Ensure equipment is onsite
5. Additional duties
a. Assist with rainout communication and scheduling
b. Update league scores in system
c. Assist with photos for social media content
SCHEDULING
This is a seasonal position from March – October. The below hours are an approximation of time required and is subject to change.
March 1 – May 1: 10 – 15 hours per week
Spring Soccer
Baseball/Softball Coaches’ Meetings
Baseball/Softball Umpire Hiring and Meetings
May 1 – July 20: 30 hours per week
Baseball/Softball Onsite Games
July 21 – October 17: 15 – 20 hours per week
Fall Soccer
Flag Football
compensation & benefits
Pay Rate: $18 – $21 per hour
This is a seasonal position from March – October.
